We are so so excited to feature another koili guy this week, Keabetswe aka KB. He really made us laugh on this one :)
I am Keabetswe from Pretoria. Born and bred in Polokwane, schooled and employed in Pretoria and Johannesburg
How long have you had natural hair?
Hmmm, I’d say since day one. But of course I was enchanted by the S-curl era in the early 2000s (don’t judge, it was bomb). Oh and this stage (see below), I tried to keep it as natural as I could except when that comb wouldn’t do its thing, then I’d give in to the chemicals.
How would you describe your texture?
Yoh, I’d say curly, a bit soft, but rough at the roots.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month, and the rationale behind your various styling decisions.
I comb it and then rough it up. I generally comb it to keep it from twisting up. Then rough it up for that scruff daddy look (lol I coined this term).
Do you leave your hair out or prefer wigs/weaves/braids during the week etc. How often do you wash, condition, go for treatments etc.
Those braids did look good back in the day but I’m over that hahahaha. I just let it breathe, just give it the spotlight to shine. I wash every second day, however, I condition every day.
Describe your favourite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style
That scruff daddy look hahahaha
How do you combat shrinkage? (if you do)
What are some of your problem areas (if any) that require extra care and attention?
None to be honest.
Which of the koili butters have you used and for how long?
I was one of the guinea pigs for the avo and castor and it has stuck
What do you like most about your butter?
The smell. Had a N-word’s hair smelling fresh to def! *I express joy in ebonics*
